In a scene cut from the end of the film, Alex laughs maniacally as he incinerates the trailer park with his Gunstar.
(Yeah, I know. I used the same joke in the WarGames review. After four movies, I'm running out of ideas.)
They didn't mention the sign in the commentary... but it had to be intentional. (You either get it or you don't.)
