The screen on all versions spells it "PLEIADS". Maybe they couldn't fit the other "E" on it. Pleiads
The Japanese cabinet spells it "PLIADES". Just can't seem to fit two "E"s on there, I guess. Pliades

The correct spelling, shown on the US marquee, is "PLEIADES".

Trivia time: A Pleiad is any one of the Pleiades - the seven daughters of Atlas. They are: Alcyone, Celaeno, Electra, Maia, Merope, Asterope and Taygeta. (Any one of which would make for a pretty good videogame title, too.) They were transformed into a group of stars, although one of them (Merope) is invisible, because she loved a mortal, and is hiding in shame. Tsk.

All that from a third-rate videogame.

Amazing what you can learn, isn't it? Who says videogames aren't educational?
